Top Five Foods For Weight Loss
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following are five foods that Dragonfly Wellness believes will help achieve weight loss.
Basmati Rice. Instead of eating refined, white rice, substitute white rice with basmati. The color is the same, but the nutrients inside are totally different. Basmati ranks amongst the top for being the richest of all rice in amino acids and other essential nutrients, including iron, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, riboflavin and thiamine. Basmati is rich in fiber, low in sodium and free of fat and cholesterol. To receive even more nutrients, try brown basmati.
Beans. Green beans, black beans, kidney beans, pinto beans, mung beans, adzuki beans, etc. There are so many beans to choose from! Our favorite bean for weight loss is adzuki beans. Adzuki beans are an excellent source of iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, and folate. For those with sensitive tummies try soaking your beans overnight. We love a brand called Eden.
Flax Seed. Flax provides us with a source of good fat that our body needs. Good sources of fat are called Omega-3 fatty acids. Milled flax seeds in juices, muffins, or sprinkled on oatmeal are great ways to incorporate good fats into the body. You can buy flax in an oil form and make salad dressings or use as a butter substitute. Some clients even take it by the teaspoon.
Whole Grains. Whole grains are an excellent source of complex carbohydrates. When losing weight and working out, it is essential to incorporate complex carbohydrates into the diet. Choose from amaranth, barley, quinoa, millet, brown rice, and oats.
Greens. Steamed, leafy greens are one the most essential foods for weight loss. Add a little olive oil, some lemon, and your favorite herb or spice. Choose from broccoli, kale, collards, mustard greens, swiss chard, and spinach.
