~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just Juice It! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last week, The Weekly Beet uncovered the secrets of sneaking health into the movies. This week, Mary Kent reports on the ABCs of Juicing, showing you just how healthy and easy it can be!
If you think eating one Fruit and Veg a day will help keep the doctor away, think again. The Beet Girls know how hard it is to eat the USDA's daily recommendation, so Just Juice It! Juicing is one of the most important aspects of well-being. Not only does it provide the adequate amount of Fruits and Vegetables, it improves the skin, increases energy levels, promotes healthy digestion, boosts the immune system, and wipes out inner toxins. You might even outlive Dr. Norman Walker, the founding father of Juicing, who Carrot Juiced his cancer away and lived to be 110.
It’s time to throw out cardboard Tropicanas and bottled V-8s and welcome fresh Juicing into your life. Fresh juices are much healthier than bottled and packaged juices because living enzymes, essential to a healthy digestive track, are present. In most juices found in supermarkets, sugar and preservatives are added, while enyzmes are killed during the bottling process. Don't get fooled into thinking all fruit juices are created in the name of health! Read your labels and if it doesn't say 100% juice then it definitely isn't. When Juicing, the first ingredient is a good juicer. We bought the Magimix Le Duo and must admit it's pretty unBEETable. No need to spend a fortune on a top of the line juicer. The Champion is great, but it comes with a champion price. Once you have your juicer, all you need now is organic Fruits and Vegetables. Juicing only takes 5 minutes. Be inventive when Juicing or buy a recipe book. Don't forget to drink your juice right away and clean your Juicer before the end of the day.
Here are a few of our best kept juices:
UnBEETable Beet Juice
Beets are packed with fiber and anti-oxidants. The pigment that gives beets their rich, purple-crimson color--Betacyanin--is a powerful cancer fighting agent.
- You will need 4 small Beets, 1 large Cucumber, 4 stalks of Celery, & 1 clove of Garlic.
- Serves 2 people.
Spicy Apple Carrot Juice
Carrots contain Vitamin A and Beta Carotene, two antioxdants that fight cancer and aging. Carrots also improve vision and Macular Degeneration.
- You will need 5 Carrots, 3 Apples without the seeds, and 2 thick slices of Ginger.
- Serves 2.
Whether it's for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, drinking a juice makes you a winner! Go for the real deal. Just juice it! Don't miss a Beet. Stay tuned for next week.
